Robinho Jeered After Losing Madrid Support

The Brazilian's actions have infuriated Los Merengues' fans and he was subjected to their wrath before and during the team's Spanish Super Cup victory against Valencia on Sunday evening.

After asking for an improved contract at the Bernabéu last term and stating that he wanted to stay was met by silence from the Madrid hierarchy, who then reportedly tried to include him in a swap deal for Cristiano Ronaldo.

When Robinho objected, Chelsea made their move and his desire to leave the Spanish giants grew with claims that he was not being given any support or reason to stay.

Despite all that, the Madrid fans believe that his desire revolves around earning more money and cries of 'go to Chelsea' being aimed in his direction at the team hotel before the game.

Bernd Schuster surprisingly included Robinho in his squad, but opted not to subject the 24-year-old to the jeers that would have greeted his entrance and left him on the bench.

At the end of the game, the former Santos star did join his team-mates on the pitch and he could clearly see the placards and hear the shouts of 'pesetero' (money grabber).

Robinho may now feel that he has lost any affection he built up with the Bernabéu faithful and that could push him to take up Madrid on their offer to let him buy out his own contract.

Chelsea have made it clear that they are ready to buy him and could make another official approach to Los Merengues this week to save the player having to go down that route.
