Musharraf faces impeachment resolution

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) -- A Pakistani lawmaker says the Parliament's lower house is convening in anticipation of impeaching President Pervez Musharraf.
Ahsan Iqbal says the National Assembly will meet later Monday for a session that is "likely to be very important."
Musharraf has dominated Pakistani politics since he seized power in a bloodless coup in 1999. But his foes swept elections in February to set up a new government and push the former army chief to the sideline.

Also Monday, provincial legislatures are to begin passing resolutions to call on Musharraf to step down or face impeachment.
Iqbal says a resolution to impeach Musharraf will be filed in the National Assembly after the provincial lawmakers have made their decisions.
