HARARE, Zimbabwe (CNN) -- Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai are scheduled to meet Thursday in Harare as part of ongoing power-sharing negotiations, a Tsvangirai spokesman said.
It will be the first face-to-face meeting between the two bitter political rivals since the talks began two weeks ago.
U.N. envoy Haile Menkerios will also be at Thursday's meeting, Tsvangirai spokesman George Sibotshiwe said.
Last month Tsvangirai was offered a vice presidency position in the country's government, according to a source close to negotiations between the two sides.
Negotiators for Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe put forward the offer at the first mediation talks in South Africa after a controversial election, which Tsvangirai pulled out of claiming his supporters were suffering violence and harassment.
Under the deal, Mugabe would remain in power, as would the two existing vice presidents. However, the talks stalled because Tsvangirai reportedly wanted a greater role.
